Ande Peruano coffee is cultivated by dedicated farmers across the provinces of Jaen, San Ignacio, and Utcubamba in Peru. These regions boast altitudes ranging from 1,680 to 2,169 meters above sea level, providing an ideal environment for coffee cultivation. The diverse microclimates and altitudinal range enable an extended harvest period from March to October, lasting up to eight months each year.
The farmers grow a variety of coffee plants, including Catimor, Typica, Pache, and Catuai. This diversity in varietals, combined with the unique growing conditions, results in a rich spectrum of flavor profiles that distinguish Ande Peruano coffee.
During harvest, cherries are selectively hand-picked at peak ripeness to ensure the highest quality. Eco-friendly wet milling techniques are employed to pulp, ferment, wash, and sun-dry the beans. This careful processing preserves the intrinsic qualities of each coffee's origin. After drying, the beans are stored in clean sacks as parchment before being exported, ensuring they maintain their exceptional flavor and quality.
